Acute Lung Injury (ALI)

Acute Lung Injury (ALI) is a condition where the lungs become inflamed and damaged suddenly, making it difficult for oxygen to enter the bloodstream. This can result from infections, trauma, or other illnesses. In ALI, fluid leaks into the tiny air sacs in the lungs (alveoli), impairing gas exchange. Symptoms often include severe shortness of breath, rapid breathing, and low oxygen levels. ALI requires prompt medical attention, often involving oxygen therapy or mechanical ventilation. While it can be life-threatening, early treatment improves the chances of recovery.
