acute CINV
Acute chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV) occurs within the first 24 hours after cancer treatment, mainly due to the release of chemicals that trigger the brain’s vomiting center. It is a common side effect that can cause discomfort, dehydration, and impact quality of life. Proper management with anti-nausea medications before and after treatment can significantly reduce these symptoms. Advances in antiemetic drugs have improved control over acute CINV, helping patients tolerate chemotherapy better and maintain their nutrition and hydration during treatment.
