ACTO (Amazon Cooperation Treaty Organization) is a regional alliance established in 1978 among Amazonian countries—Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Guyana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela. Its goal is to promote sustainable development, environmental preservation, and cooperative management of the Amazon rainforest. ACTO facilitates dialogue, sharing of information, research, and joint initiatives to address challenges like deforestation, climate change, and biodiversity loss. It emphasizes collaboration to ensure the region's ecological health while supporting the social and economic needs of Amazonian communities.
