active labor

Active labor is the phase of childbirth where the cervix progressively opens (dilates) more rapidly, usually from about 4 to 10 centimeters. During this time, contractions become stronger, longer, and more regular, helping to push the baby downward through the birth canal. It marks the beginning of the most intense part of labor and prepares the body for delivery. This period typically lasts several hours and is a crucial stage in the childbirth process.
