Active bystandership
Active bystandership is the intentional act of stepping in to address and stop problematic or harmful behavior when witnessing it. Instead of remaining passive or ignoring the situation, an active bystander assesses the circumstances, considers safety, and takes appropriate action—whether that means intervening directly, supporting the victim, or seeking help. This proactive approach helps create safer, more respectful environments by encouraging individuals to contribute positively rather than ignoring issues or standing by silently.
