Activated Sludge Process (ASP)

The Activated Sludge Process (ASP) is a method used in wastewater treatment to remove organic pollutants. It involves pumping wastewater into a tank where a mixture of microorganisms, called activated sludge, is added. These microbes naturally feed on the waste, breaking down harmful substances into simpler, safer forms. The activated sludge is then separated from the cleaned water using aerators and settling tanks. The treated water is released or further purified, while some of the sludge is recycled to maintain the microbial population. This process effectively reduces organic pollution, making wastewater safer before it's discharged into the environment.
