ACS (Acute Coronary Syndrome)
Acute Coronary Syndrome (ACS) is an umbrella term for sudden, reduced blood flow to the heart muscle, often caused by a blockage in the coronary arteries. This can lead to conditions like a heart attack or unstable angina. When the heart’s blood supply is compromised, the oxygen and nutrients the heart needs are diminished, which can damage or kill heart tissue if not treated promptly. Symptoms may include chest pain, shortness of breath, or discomfort in other areas like the arms or jaw. Immediate medical attention is crucial to restore blood flow and minimize heart damage.
