Acromion Process
The acromion process is a bony extension of the shoulder blade (scapula) that protrudes outward and forms the highest point of the shoulder. It serves as an attachment site for muscles and ligaments involved in shoulder movement and stability. The acromion also connects with the collarbone (clavicle) to create the acromioclavicular joint, which helps in lifting and rotating the arm. This bony structure protects the shoulder joint and provides support for arm motion. Injuries or inflammation in this area can cause shoulder pain and limit movement.
