Acoustic wave

An acoustic wave is a type of energy that travels through a medium like air, water, or solids as a vibration or pressure variation. When an object vibrates—like your vocal cords or a speaker cone—it creates these pressure changes, which move through the surrounding medium as waves. These waves are what we perceive as sound. Essentially, acoustic waves transfer energy through oscillating molecules, allowing us to hear noises, music, or other sounds. They are characterized by properties such as frequency, wavelength, and amplitude, which influence the pitch and loudness of the sound we hear.
