Acoustic resonance

Acoustic resonance occurs when an object or space naturally vibrates at a specific frequency in response to sound waves, amplifying certain sounds. Imagine pushing someone on a swing; if you time your pushes to match the swing's rhythm, it goes higher. Similarly, when sound waves match an object's natural vibrational frequency, they reinforce each other, causing a noticeable increase in sound amplitude. This phenomenon explains why musical instruments produce specific notes and why certain structures, like wine glasses, can shatter when exposed to particular sound frequencies. Resonance enhances sound intensity and clarity at these specific frequencies.
