Achilles Tendon Disorders

Achilles tendon disorders involve problems with the large tendon connecting the calf muscles to the heel bone. Common issues include tendinitis (inflammation from overuse), which causes pain and swelling, and tendon rupture (tear), which results in sudden, severe pain and difficulty walking. These conditions are often caused by repetitive stress, overuse, or aging, and can be aggravated by inadequate stretching or improper footwear. Treatment typically includes rest, ice, physical therapy, and sometimes surgery, depending on severity. Proper conditioning and gradual increases in activity can help prevent these injuries.
