Achernar
Achernar is a bright star located in the constellation Eridanus, about 140 light-years from Earth. It is one of the hottest and most luminous stars visible to the naked eye. Achernar is a blue, massive star that rotates extremely rapidly, causing it to be flattened at the poles and stretched at the equator. This fast spin influences its shape and temperature distribution. Its name means “the End of the River” in Arabic, referring to its position in the constellation. Despite its brightness, Achernar is difficult to see from some locations due to its position near the southern horizon.
