ACGME Competencies

The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) competencies are key areas of skills and knowledge that medical residents must develop to be effective physicians. They include Patient Care, which emphasizes providing quality medical attention; Medical Knowledge, focusing on understanding diseases and treatments; Practice-Based Learning and Improvement, which involves ongoing self-assessment and learning; Interpersonal and Communication Skills, essential for working with patients and colleagues; Professionalism, encompassing ethics and accountability; and Systems-Based Practice, which involves understanding the broader healthcare system. Together, these competencies ensure comprehensive and effective training for future doctors.
