Acetaminophen toxicity
Acetaminophen toxicity occurs when someone takes too much acetaminophen, often found in pain relievers like Tylenol. The liver processes this medication, but excessive amounts can overwhelm it, leading to liver damage. Symptoms may start with nausea and vomiting, followed by abdominal pain and possibly jaundice (yellowing of the skin). If not treated promptly, it can result in severe liver failure and can be life-threatening. It's important to always follow dosage instructions and seek medical help if an overdose is suspected.
