acetabular dysplasia

Acetabular dysplasia is a condition where the hip socket (acetabulum) is shallow or improperly shaped, which means it doesn’t fully cover the head of the thigh bone (femoral head). This can cause the joint to be less stable and lead to uneven wear or increased stress on the cartilage. Over time, it may result in hip pain, arthritis, or hip instability. It’s often present from birth or develops during early childhood, but can also occur later in life. Treatment options range from physical therapy to surgical correction, aiming to improve hip stability and function.
