Accretion disc

An accretion disc is a rotating, flat structure composed of gas, dust, and debris that spirals into a central object like a star, black hole, or neutron star. Material in the disc gradually moves inward due to gravitational forces and internal friction, which heats it up and causes it to emit light and energy. This process often results in the bright, glowing appearance of many cosmic phenomena, such as quasars or young star systems. Accretion discs play a key role in how massive objects grow and influence their surroundings in space.
