Accolate

Accolate (zafirlukast) is a medication used to prevent and manage asthma symptoms by reducing inflammation and narrowing of the airways. It works by blocking certain substances in the body called leukotrienes, which contribute to airway constriction, mucus production, and swelling during asthma attacks. It is typically taken orally, usually twice daily, and is used as a long-term control medication rather than for sudden asthma attacks. Accolate helps improve breathing, decrease the frequency of asthma symptoms, and reduce the need for rescue inhalers. It is most effective when combined with other asthma management strategies under medical supervision.
