Acadie
Acadie, also known as Acadia, was a historic region in northeastern North America, primarily in what is now eastern Canada's Maritime provinces and parts of Maine. Originally inhabited by the Mi'kmaq, it became a French colony in the early 17th century, known for its unique culture, language (Acadian French), and strong community ties. Throughout its history, Acadie experienced conflicts, including British conquest in 1713, which led many Acadians to migrate or face displacement—a tragedy called the Great Expulsion. Today, Acadie's legacy endures in its cultural traditions, music, and the resilience of its descendants.
