Academy (Plato's)

Plato's Academy was an ancient school founded around 387 BCE in Athens, often regarded as the first institution of higher learning in the Western world. It served as a place where philosophers, students, and thinkers gathered to explore topics like ethics, politics, mathematics, and nature through discussion and dialogue. The Academy emphasized the importance of reasoning and dialogue in the pursuit of knowledge and truth. Although it was not a formal university as we know today, it laid foundational principles for scientific and philosophical inquiry that influence education and thought to this day.
