Abu Yusuf Yaqub, also known as Yaqub al-Mansur, was a prominent ruler of the Almohad Caliphate in the late 12th century. He ascended to power after his father, Abd al-Mu'min, and is known for his military successes, including the decisive victory at the Battle of Alarcos against the Christians in Spain. He expanded the empire significantly and was a patron of art and architecture, overseeing the construction of famous structures like the Koutoubia Mosque in Marrakech. Yaqub's reign marked a peak in Almohad influence but also faced challenges from internal dissent and external pressures.
