absentee ballots
An absentee ballot is a voting option that allows eligible voters to cast their ballot without being physically present at the polling place on Election Day. This is often used when voters are traveling, ill, or unable to visit the polls in person. Typically, voters request an absentee ballot in advance, receive it by mail or electronically, complete it at home, and return it by mail or designated drop-off. Absentee ballots are then collected and counted along with in-person votes to ensure everyone has the opportunity to participate in the election, regardless of their ability to be present on Election Day.
