ABC transporters

ABC transporters are specialized proteins found in cell membranes that help move various substances, such as nutrients, waste, or drugs, across the cell boundary. Using energy derived from ATP (a cellular fuel), these transporters change shape to carry their cargo in or out of the cell. They play crucial roles in processes like vitamin uptake, fat metabolism, and drug resistance. By controlling what enters and exits cells, ABC transporters maintain internal balance and protect cells from potentially harmful substances.
