ABC Model of Behavior

The ABC Model of Behavior is a framework used to understand why people behave in certain ways. It stands for Antecedents, Behaviors, and Consequences. Antecedents are the events or triggers that happen before a behavior occurs. The behavior is the actual action taken. Consequences are what happen after the behavior, which can reinforce or discourage that action in the future. By analyzing these three parts, we can better understand and modify behaviors—changing triggers or consequences to promote positive actions and reduce negative ones. This model is widely used in psychology and behavior management to foster change.
