Abbie Hoffman was an American political activist and co-founder of the Youth International Party, commonly known as the Yippies. He gained prominence during the 1960s for his radical advocacy for social change, including civil rights, anti-war efforts, and countercultural movements. Hoffman was known for his theatrical protests and use of humor to challenge authority. His book, "Steal This Book," called for sharing resources freely. He became a symbol of the counterculture era and the struggle for freedom of expression, remaining influential in discussions about activism and social justice until his death in 1989.
