Abbot Hucbald
Hucbald of St. Amand (c. 840–930) was a medieval monk and music theorist. He is known for his early work on the science of music, particularly in understanding how musical sounds and scales work. Hucbald contributed to the development of musical notation and explained concepts like intervals and scales, helping to standardize how music was written and taught in his time. His ideas laid groundwork for later medieval and Renaissance music theory, influencing how music was understood and composed during the Middle Ages.
