a social-ecological framework

A social-ecological framework is a way to understand how different levels of influence affect individual behaviors and well-being. It recognizes that personal choices are shaped not only by individual factors but also by relationships, community, societal norms, policies, and broader cultural and environmental contexts. Think of it as layers of an onion: the individual at the core, surrounded by interpersonal relationships, then community, and finally societal and environmental factors. This approach helps identify multiple levels where support, change, or intervention can improve health and social outcomes.
