A-scans

An A-scan is a diagnostic test that uses ultrasound waves to measure distances within the body, commonly used in eye examinations and medical imaging. It sends high-frequency sound pulses into tissue; when these waves bounce back, the device records the time it takes for the echoes to return. This information helps determine the structure’s depth and location, such as measuring the eye’s internal components for vision correction or detecting abnormalities. The result appears as a graph, with peaks representing different tissue interfaces, providing precise, quantitative data useful for diagnosis and treatment planning.
