A.D. (Anno Domini)

A.D., which stands for "Anno Domini" meaning "In the Year of Our Lord" in Latin, is a calendar designation used to label years in the Christian tradition. It counts the years starting from the estimated birth of Jesus Christ. For example, 2024 A.D. refers to the 2024th year since that event. This system is used in many parts of the world for historical and contemporary dating. A.D. is often paired with B.C. (Before Christ), where B.C. counts years before the estimated birth. Together, they form the basis of the Gregorian calendar used globally today.
