8mm film

8mm film is a type of motion picture film format introduced in the 1930s, primarily used for home movies and amateur filmmaking. It features a strip of film 8 millimeters wide, which was more affordable and portable than larger professional formats. The film is typically wound onto reels and often includes a perforated edge for guiding through cameras and projectors. In the 1960s and beyond, a narrower variation called Super 8 was developed, offering better image quality with smaller sprocket holes. Although largely replaced by digital media today, 8mm film remains appreciated for its nostalgic aesthetic and authentic vintage appearance.
