88 Generation Students
The 88 Generation Students is a group of influential activists in Myanmar, composed mainly of students and young professionals who led demonstrations against military rule starting in 2007. Named after the year they began protesting (they graduated in 1988), they advocate for democracy, human rights, and political reform. Their activism has played a significant role in challenging military dominance and inspiring broader movements for democratic governance in Myanmar. Despite governmental suppression and imprisonment, they remain symbols of resistance and hope for democratic change within the country.
