5th Army (United States)
The 5th Army of the United States was a major military unit responsible for operations in Europe during World War II, particularly in Italy. It was part of the U.S. Army's effort to fight Axis powers, commanding land forces, planning strategies, and coordinating with allies. The 5th Army played a crucial role in disrupting enemy lines, capturing key areas, and advancing through difficult terrain. Its leadership included General Mark Clark. After the war, the army was deactivated. Today, the 5th Army name is used by a different command structure, but historically, it was a key player in Allied victory in Europe.
