5E Instructional Model

The 5E Instructional Model is a teaching framework designed to actively engage students in learning through five stages: Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate. It begins by capturing students’ interest and connecting to prior knowledge, then allows them to investigate and discover concepts on their own. Next, teachers clarify key ideas, followed by extending understanding through additional activities. Finally, students demonstrate their learning to confirm comprehension. This model promotes active participation, deep understanding, and durable learning by guiding students through a process of inquiry and reflection.
