3D Elevation Program

The 3D Elevation Program (3DEP) is an initiative by the U.S. Geological Survey to create a detailed, three-dimensional map of the country's terrain. It captures high-resolution elevation data—like height and contours of the land—using advanced methods such as laser scanning (LiDAR) and radar. This geographic information helps in various applications, including flood risk assessment, urban planning, infrastructure development, and environmental management. By providing accurate and up-to-date elevation models, 3DEP supports better decision-making and resource management across government agencies, businesses, and communities.
