2020 Rajasthan Political Crisis
The 2020 Rajasthan political crisis occurred when tensions within the ruling Congress party led to the resignation of Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot’s government. Several CongressMLAs (Members of Legislative Assembly) threatened to defect to the opposing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), risking a loss of majority. The crisis intensified when some MLAs claimed they were being offered money or positions to switch sides. To prevent a government fall, Gehlot resigned voluntarily, prompting a political standoff. The crisis ended when the MLAs' loyalty was secured, and Gehlot was reappointed as Chief Minister, maintaining stability in Rajasthan’s state government.
