2001 September 11 Attacks

The September 11, 2001 attacks were coordinated terrorist assaults in the United States, when 19 hijackers affiliated with al-Qaeda hijacked four commercial airplanes. They intentionally crashed two planes into the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, causing their collapse. Another plane hit the Pentagon near Washington, D.C., and the fourth, United Airlines Flight 93, crashed into a Pennsylvania field after passengers attempted to regain control, preventing a further attack. These attacks resulted in nearly 3,000 deaths, profoundly impacting national security, leading to major changes in U.S. policies, security measures, and global counterterrorism efforts.
