2001 AUMF
The 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force (AUMF) is a congressional resolution that gave the President broad authority to use military force against those responsible for the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks, as well as associated groups and nations. It effectively authorized ongoing military actions against al-Qaeda and related terrorist organizations without requiring additional approval for each operation. This AUMF has been the legal basis for various U.S. military interventions in the ongoing fight against terrorism worldwide.
