1st Trimester Screening
First trimester screening is a medical test done early in pregnancy to assess the risk of certain chromosomal conditions, such as Down syndrome. It typically involves a blood test and an ultrasound around 11-13 weeks of pregnancy. The blood test measures specific substances in your blood, while the ultrasound (nuchal translucency scan) measures fluid at the back of the baby's neck. Combining these results helps estimate the likelihood of genetic conditions, allowing parents and healthcare providers to make informed decisions about further testing or preparations. It’s a non-invasive way to gain early insights into your baby’s health.
