
1988 Convention
The 1988 Convention, also known as the UN Convention against Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances, is an international treaty aimed at combating drug trafficking and related crimes. It establishes legal measures for countries to prevent, investigate, and prosecute drug offenses, and promotes international cooperation. The Convention also includes provisions for controlling precursor chemicals used in drug production and supporting treatment and prevention efforts. Its goal is to reduce the global supply of illegal drugs and improve the rule of law in combating drug-related crime worldwide.
