1981 Ontario general election
The 1981 Ontario general election took place on May 27, 1981, to choose members for the Ontario Legislative Assembly. The governing Progressive Conservative Party, led by Bill Davis, sought to retain power but faced a renewed challenge from the New Democratic Party (NDP) and the Liberal Party. Although the PCs won the most seats, they did not achieve a majority, leading to a hung parliament. This resulted in a minority government, where Bill Davis continued governing with support from the opposition parties on certain issues, marking a shift from their previous majority government.
