1977 plane crash
The 1977 plane crash refers to the tragic collision of two Boeing 747 jumbo jets at Los Rodeos Airport (now Tenerife North Airport) in the Canary Islands. Due to a terrorist incident at another airport, many planes were diverted there. On March 27, thick fog reduced visibility. As one plane began its takeoff, it miscommunicated with air traffic control, while the other was taxiing on the runway. The two jets collided, resulting in the deaths of 583 people. This accident remains the deadliest in aviation history and led to significant changes in international aviation safety and communication protocols.
