1976 reunification
The 1976 reunification refers to the process of bringing East and West Germany back together into a single country, ending four decades of division during the Cold War. After World War II, Germany was split into two separate states: the capitalist West Germany and the socialist East Germany. The division was symbolized by the Berlin Wall. In 1990, political and economic changes in Eastern Europe and the decline of communist influence led to East Germany implementing reforms. This paved the way for the reunification process, culminating in the formal unification on October 3, 1990, creating a unified Germany.
