1971 Indo-Pak War
The 1971 Indo-Pak War was a conflict between India and Pakistan, primarily over the treatment of ethnic minorities and the independence movement in East Pakistan (now Bangladesh). After Pakistan's government cracked down on Bengali independence fighters and civilians, millions fled to India seeking safety. India responded militarily in support of Bangladesh's independence movement. The war lasted about two weeks, resulting in a decisive victory for India and the creation of Bangladesh as an independent country. It significantly changed South Asian geopolitics and demonstrated the importance of regional stability and human rights.
