1968 Spring Offensive
The 1968 Spring Offensive was a major military campaign launched by North Vietnam during the Vietnam War, aiming to boost morale and pressure enemy South Vietnam and the United States. From late spring to early summer, North Vietnamese forces coordinated large-scale attacks across South Vietnam, including surprise assaults on major cities such as Hue and Khe Sanh. Although these offensives caused significant shock and casualties, they largely failed to achieve their strategic goals and resulted in heavy losses for North Vietnam. The campaign marked a turning point, influencing U.S. public opinion and policy decisions regarding the war.
