1961 Geneva Conference

The 1961 Geneva Conference was a diplomatic meeting held in Switzerland to discuss the ongoing Vietnam conflict and the broader Indochina region. Representatives from countries such as the United States, the Soviet Union, China, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia aimed to find peaceful solutions and end hostilities. The conference focused on establishing agreements to cease fighting, respecting sovereignty, and promoting national reconciliation. Although it resulted in some agreements, notably the Geneva Accords of 1954, the 1961 talks did not fully resolve the conflict, leading to continued tensions and the escalation of the Vietnam War.
