1936 Revolt

The 1936 Revolt, also known as the Spanish Civil War, was a conflict in Spain where a group of military officers and conservatives opposed the democratically elected government, seeking to overthrow it. The uprising led to a brutal civil war between the Nationalists (rebels) and the Republicans (supporters of the government), lasting until 1939. The war was marked by ideological clashes—fascism versus democracy—and drew international involvement, with Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy backing the Nationalists, and Soviet support for the Republicans. It ended with the Nationalists’ victory, leading to Francisco Franco’s authoritarian rule.
