1928 Bardoli Satyagraha

The 1928 Bardoli Satyagraha was a peaceful protest by Indian farmers in Bardoli, Gujarat, against increased tax demands imposed by the British colonial government. The farmers grew unhappy as the taxes threatened their livelihoods. Led by Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, they organized nonviolent resistance, refusing to pay the taxes. When the government seized their lands, the farmers resisted physically and morally. Ultimately, their persistent nonviolent protest succeeded, prompting the government to reduce taxes and restore their lands. The victory strengthened Indian nationalism, demonstrating the effectiveness of civil disobedience in challenging colonial rule.
