1916 Home Rule League

The 1916 Home Rule League was an Irish political movement advocating for self-governing authority within the United Kingdom, aiming to grant Ireland its own parliament while remaining part of Britain. It emerged from growing nationalist sentiments seeking greater Irish independence, especially during a time of political upheaval, such as the Easter Rising. The League sought to achieve constitutional change peacefully through political activism and legislation. Although it didn’t succeed immediately, it laid the groundwork for Ireland’s eventual independence and became a precursor to later nationalist organizations.
