1913 Proposal (Ramanujan's first letter to Hardy)
In 1913, Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan wrote a letter to British mathematician G.H. Hardy, sharing some of his groundbreaking mathematical ideas. This letter, often called the "1913 proposal," contained numerous novel formulas and insights into the properties of infinite series and prime numbers. Ramanujan's work was unconventional and highly insightful, catching Hardy's attention and leading to their famous collaboration. This letter marked the beginning of Ramanujan’s recognition in the mathematical community and showcased his extraordinary talent in discovering deep, original concepts in mathematics.
