1550 Treaty

The Treaty of 1550 was an agreement between the Spanish Crown and the Kingdom of Portugal, aimed at resolving territorial disputes in South America. It established borders, recognizing Spanish control over most of what is now Peru and parts of Bolivia, while Portugal retained territories in Brazil. The treaty helped delineate spheres of influence, reducing conflict between the two colonial powers during their early colonization efforts.
