101ers

The 101ers were a band formed in the early 1970s by a young musician named Joe Strummer, who later became famous as the lead singer of The Clash. The band played pub rock—a style rooted in energetic, straightforward rock music performed in local pubs in London. They were known for their raw sound and working-class appeal. Although they didn’t achieve major success, the 101ers helped shape Strummer’s musical style and laid groundwork for punk rock. In 1976, Strummer and some band members joined other musicians to form The Clash, which became one of the most influential punk bands worldwide.
